Hey hey!

So, I love reading aloud.  I also love this YA book series by Gordon Korman called "Bruno and Boots."

Some of you may have heard of it, but most of you probably grew up in places other than Canada and never got the chance to hear of it.  Well my friends, worry not!  I've decided, as a gesture of magnanimity to the world at large, to record the entire series in audio form for your enjoyment and edification.

Seriously though, these books are fantastic.  My sister and I just blitzed through the entire series (of seven books) again after over a decade of growing-up, and we found them just as entertaining as they were the first time around.

Also, ALSO, Gordon Korman wrote the first one as a seventh-grade English project!  The kid was twelve!  Or possibly thirteen, I haven't been able to get a straight answer on the age question.  But either way, it's mighty impressive in my books!

I've got the entire first book recorded, and I plan to upload a chapter a week.  And so, without further ado, I present the link to the first chapter: [link]

Enjoy!  Enjoy Gordon Korman's youthful genius and my slightly awkward voice!

Hey hey! I just gotta say that I *love* what you and the rest of the crew are doing with the Blue Sky podfic and all. Truly amazing to listen to all the voices even if there isn't a chapter out yet. It's just making me so excited! I hope it's a project that can be seen through to the end.

Also, I wanted to offer to do any animation that you may need/want done in the future. Not the whole thing obviously, but if you ever wanted any short scenes done, I'd be happy to help out. The whole time reading it I kept thinking it'd be an amazing animated film and it'd be a waste for me to let that slip by.

Just offering! Let me know what you think. :)

Wow, thank you for the kind comment! It's really exciting to be a part of a project like this. I know it's been kind of quiet from us lately, but things are definitely happening! They're just more behind-the-scenes than before. We've been figuring out mic quality for everyone, divvying up the editing/music-composition/sound-effects work among our sound team and trying to coordinate time zones so we can have a read-through for the first chapter before recording starts. Fun fun fun!

As for your offer, I say again, wow! No, let me capitalize that. WOW. Animation? That would completely rock! But it's certainly up to you if you want to do anything like that, since it's not really necessary for the production of a podfic. Still, if you're asking for our permission to do so once we've got some of it recorded? Consider it granted! We would love to see some of our work animated! But don't consider it a chore that we're assigning you or something. I know I speak for the whole team when I say that we'd be utterly stoked, but you should only do it if it's something that you're excited about.

I figured you guys were just working on some backstage stuff. Sounds like a ton of work, but it's reassuring me that the end product will be awesome! Some of the stuff you're planning (music, ambient noise, etc) is already more in depth than most of the audiobooks I've listened to. Looking forward to the next update, whenever that is.

I know animation isn't required at all for a podfic, but it's nice to have your blessing on it anyway. :) And I don't consider it a chore at all! Even listening to the audition tapes I was tempted to do a bit of animation to them. The cast is super talented and their voices are perfect for animation. Whenever I get inspired I'll just make something and send it over for you guys to see. And if anyone on the team has a specific scene in mind they'd like to see, feel free to request it. I don't want to feel like I'm burdening you by having you guys choose scenes to animate, just if anyone happens to think of it.

Oh boy now I'm getting into super animator mode, I want to make character sheets and everything

I know, when this began we figured we'd be doing well even to get enough voices for the characters! But there's so much love for this story that people have been popping up from everywhere to offer their services (much like you!), so now we've got a really talented sound team in our corner too.

Character sheets? Wow, go right ahead! Man alive, the whole prospect is super exciting.:XD:
